These are ceremonies that a clan leader would use or a medicine cat would say.
Clan Deputy
I say these words before the body of (deceased deputy), so that his/her spirit may hear and approve of my choice. ______ will be the new deputy of _____clan.
The new deputy must be appointed before moonhigh of the day the previous deputy passed away/retired/became leader. A cat must have mentored at least one apprentice before he or she can become deputy.
Clan Medicine Cat
I, ________, medicine cat of _____clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He/she has trained hard to understand the ways of the medicine cat, and with your help he/she will serve her Clan for many moons. _____paw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan, and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?
Apprentice says: I do.
Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. ____paw, from this moment you will be known as ________. StarClan honors your courage and faith.
Mentoring medicine cat places muzzle on new medicine cat's head, newly named medicine cat licks mentor's shoulder respectively.
Warrior/Queen
I, _____star, leader of _____clan, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He/she has trained hard in the ways of your noble code, and I commend him/her to you as a warrior in his/her turn. ______paw, do you agree to uphold the warrior code and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?
Apprentice says: I do.
Then by the powers of Starclan I give you your warrior name. _____paw, from this moment on you shall be known as _________. We honor your determination and skill and we welcome you as a full warrior of _____clan.
Clan leader will place his/her muzzle on the top of the new warrior's head, and the new warrior must lick the leader's shoulder in respect.
Apprentice
____kit has reached his/her sixth moon and is ready to become an apprentice. From now on you will be known as ______paw. _______, you are ready for your first/another apprentice. The clan trusts that you will pass all of your knowledge and skill to _______paw.
Apprentice and mentor must touch noses to show that they accept the other.
Elder
_______, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?
Cat says: It is.
Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to give you many seasons of rest.
Cats choose to become an elder. Some are warriors their whole lives. When warriors are about 7 years old they are old enough to become an elder.
Death
______ was a noble/skill full/loyal warrior/apprentice/kit/elder/leader/deputy. Let us give thanks to Star/MoonClan for his/her life. He/she was dedicated to his/her Clan, and his/her memory will never fade from the forest. Now we commend his/her spirit to Star/MoonClan. May he/she watch over us in death as he/she always did in life.
The clan medicine cat says this ceremony as the clan share tongues with the deceased. The ceremony is not always used though.
Renaming
Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment he/she will be known as ______.
